Ingredients

  • 400 grams tilapia fillets
  • 120 ml fresh lime juice
  • 1 medium red onion
  • 2 medium tomato
  • 1 piece jalapeño pepper
  • 15 grams fresh cilantro
  • 1 medium avocado
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper

Cooking instructions

  1. Prepare tilapia — Cut tilapia fillets into small 1/2 inch cubes for even marinating.
  2. Marinate fish — Place tilapia cubes in a glass bowl and pour fresh lime juice over to cover. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes until fish is opaque, indicating it is 'cooked'.
  3. Chop vegetables — While fish marinates, finely dice the red onion and tomatoes. Mince the jalapeño, removing seeds for less heat if desired. Chop cilantro leaves.
  4. Combine ingredients — Drain excess lime juice from fish, then gently mix tilapia with onion, tomato, jalapeño, and cilantro in a serving bowl.
  5. Add avocado and season — Dice avocado and fold gently into the ceviche salad. Drizzle olive oil, then season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  6. Chill and serve — Let the salad rest for 10 minutes in the fridge to let flavors meld before serving.
